Kaylie's Slice Of Life #11
I really need to catch up on my Slices.
Saturday was such a beautiful day that my mom wanted to take my brother and sister and I to City Park. Once we were there, we looked out the window of our car and wondered why the place was so packed. I searched for signs, and sure enough... one caught my eye. It read-
DOG WALK IN THE PARK .
My mom and I laughed very hard, because my little sister is terrified of dogs. My siblings cried as we drove away. My mom felt bad about them not being able to go to the park, so we left to find another one. We found a little park in a quiet neighborhood behind Sonic. As we pulled up, our car hit the sidewalk, so we were tilting. It took forever to get my car door open, and once we did, my sister and I ran for the swings.
After playing in the empty park, we got back in the car and drove to my great-aunt's house. She didn't live too far away. After visiting her, we drove to my best friend's house, because I was invited to her brother's party. After many rounds of cake and chilidogs, we jumped on the trampoline for so long that I got sunburned. The day still not over, my mom picked me up from my friend's house. We waited for my dad to get home, then my mom and I dropped off my brother and my sister with him. We then picked up my Grammy and headed to Celebrity Theatre to watch the Hunger Games. I had already read all three books, and was anxious to see the movie. It was a great movie, but I was a little disappointed, because a lot of things were taken out, including a character. Here is a poem to describe the movie.
Hunger Games: Every year on Reaping Day, two children, one boy and one girl, from all twelve districts, will be chosen. The children must fight to the death. Only one victor is allowed. The other 23 are destined to die.
" Happy Hunger Games," Effie Trinket said,
with her polite attitude and a pink wig upon her head.
She pulled a name from a glass ball,
when Prim is called, Katniss immediately falls.
" I volunteer as tribute!" Katniss wildly screams.
"We haven't had a volunteer in ages," Effie Trinket deems.
Effie crosses to the other ball
and chooses a name.
"Peeta Mellark," Effie says
and Effie couldn't have chosen
a worse name from them all,
for the two, Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen,
will fight to death.
a bloody death it would seem...
